Towhid Hridoy has been appointed captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Zimbabwe national cricket team. The leadership change comes after regular T20I captain Litton Das was granted leave to participate in the Lanka Premier League, while pacer Taskin Ahmed will also miss the series for the same reason.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has named a 15-member squad for the tour, with all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain earning a recall after impressive performances in the recent ODI series against Australia. The three T20Is are scheduled to be played in Bulawayo on July 15, 17, and 19.
For Hridoy, this is another significant opportunity to showcase his leadership abilities at the international level. Bangladesh will be aiming to build momentum in the shortest format, while Zimbabwe will look to capitalize on home conditions in what promises to be a competitive series.
Yasir Ali also returns to the T20I squad after nearly three years, having last featured in the format against Pakistan during the Asian Games in October 2023.
