The Punjab Kings (PBKS) extended their flawless, unbeaten run in the TATA IPL 2026 with a commanding 54-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in New Chandigarh. In a contest defined by jaw-dropping ball-striking, the hosts posted a mammoth 254 for 7 which is the highest total of the season.
The fixture showcased an extraordinary exhibition of power-hitting from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, whose devastating partnership batted LSG entirely out of the contest and solidified Punjab's position at the top of the table.
Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first, hoping to exploit any early assistance. However, the decision quickly backfired. After the early dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly forged an unforgettable 182-run partnership for the second wicket in just 13.2 overs.
Priyansh Arya laid down a marker with a breathtaking 93 from merely 37 deliveries. The southpaw demonstrated supreme intent, peppering the boundary with four fours and a staggering nine sixes. Connolly was given a reprieve as Rishabh Pant and LSG missed a crucial DRS chance which would have seen the end of the stylish left-hander. Connolly made LSG pay as the Australian sensation blasted a brutal 87 off 46 balls, heavily targeting the mid-wicket and long-on boundaries.
The duo dismantled the LSG bowling attack, taking a heavy toll on Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan. In a particularly brutal passage of play, the 11th and 12th overs yielded 37 runs, followed by a colossal 32-run onslaught against Aiden Markram in the 13th over. While Manimaran Siddharth (2 for 35) and Prince Yadav (2 for 25) managed to pull things back slightly with crucial breakthroughs, late cameos from Marcus Stoinis (29 off 16) and Shashank Singh (17 off 6) ensured PBKS surged past the 250-run mark.
